Dems: Grants provide legal assistance to low-income Iowans

Through March 4, applications are being accepted for grants from the Interest on Lawyer Trust Account. The grants are awarded to public purpose projects that provide legal services to low-income people in civil cases, law-related education and other programs that improve justice in Iowa.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income families with their home-heating costs. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Assistance is based on household income, household size, type of fuel and type of housing. Each Iowa household that qualifies will receive a one-time payment this winter of between $450 and $500.
