GOP: Meet the Members: Tom Jeneary

Tom Jeneary is seeking his first term in the Iowa House.

Tom was born in Des Moines and raised in several communities in Iowa.  He graduated from West Liberty High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa, graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, and then from the University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry.  He worked as a Funeral Directory for six years and then as a Dentist for more than three decades, having just recently retired.

Tom is the Vice Chair of the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners, a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Northwest Iowa Dental Association, the LeMars Sportsman’s Club, the Scottish Rite and York Rite, the Masonic Bodies, and the Triangle Masonic Lodge 643 in Sioux City.  He is also the Past President of Plymouth County Pheasants Forever.  He has volunteered with the Iowa SIDS Foundation and Walk for the Future.

Tom and his wife, Pam are members of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ where he currently serves as a Deacon and sings in the church choir.   He has served as a past Elder of the church.  The Jenearys have two adult sons and four grandchildren.  In his spare time, Tom is an avid fly fisherman and pheasant hunter.

In the House, Tom will strive to grow small town main streets, improve education, and ensure good government that works for the people.
