GOP: Freshman Profile – Shannon Lundgren

lundgrenRepresentative-elect Shannon Lundgren, of Peosta, was elected to serve House District 57. The district consists of Dubuque county including parts of Dyersville and Peosta.

Shannon grew up in Dubuque.  She graduated from Wahlert High School and earned a certificate in Tourism Management from Midwest Travel & Hospitality Institute.  Early in her career she worked in the local casino industry but eventually transitioned to the hotel industry where she managed a small boutique style inn and large-scale events for a local resort.

In 2001, Shannon took over management of the Dubuque County Fair Association.  Under her management, they received the Blue Ribbon Fair Award and she was elected to the board of the Iowa Fair Association’s Northeast District.  She was also recognized as one of the Telegraph Herald’s Rising Stars.

In 2006, Shannon and her family moved to rural Dubuque County and opened the Trackside Bar & Grill in Peosta.  It’s a family-owned business with each member of the family playing an important role in its operation.  They recently celebrated 10 years of operation in May.

Shannon has served on the Sunny Crest Manor Operations Board of Directors, numerous Dubuque Chamber of Commerce Committees, and participated in their Dancing with the Stars event to raise money for the Special Olympics.  The Lundgren family has helped fundraise for local volunteer fire departments, schools, and churches.  They are members of St. John’s Catholic Church Parish/Placid.

Shannon is married to her husband, Charlie.  They have two daughters who attend Iowa colleges.
