Dems: Iowans must file unemployment claims online

Iowans filing continuing unemployment claims will soon need to complete the process online rather than over the phone. Iowa Workforce Development’s Unemployment Insurance Division will end the phone option October 1.

Those receiving unemployment benefits should have received a letter about the change. The letter outlines how to file a weekly claim or check your claim status online by going to www.iowaworkforcedevelopment.gov and clicking “File Weekly Claim.”

For those who do not have access to a computer, a limited number of unemployment insurance representatives will be available to help claimants over the phone at 1-866-239-0843, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
