Charlie McConkey
Iowa House District 15
Charlie McConkey of Council Bluffs is serving his first term in the Iowa State House. He sits on the Economic Growth, Human Resources, Labor, and Ways and Means Committees. McConkey also serves on the Education Appropriations Subcommittee and Prevention of Disabilities Policy Council.
McConkey is a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and Iowa Western Community College. He worked at Griffin Pipe in Council Bluffs for 31 years before retiring and has been a small business owner. He has also has worked in real estate, financial investments, and life insurance. McConkey and his wife, Sheryl, have 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
McConkey is an active member of the community serving as Vice President of the Roberts Park Neighborhood Association and has volunteered for SOLAS (Support Our Local Animal Shelter) and Mohm’s Place, the homeless shelter in Council Bluffs. He has also served on the Steelworker Credit Union Board.
